简介
Charles Ecker grew up in America's Northeast and for nearly one-third of a century, has resided along the sandy beaches and blue Pacific of Southern California. But he admittedly has what he calls a "heartland" sensibility" gleamed from travels to all but four states and over a dozen countries to the East, and West. Some call what he does "Heartland Music" and that is because while Charlie started crafting Traditional Country songs, certainly enough to be named a "Featured Artist" on Redneck Country Radio" emanating from Nashville for works appearing on his first album and capped off by the duet "A Lotta' Love heard here, he has moved into his own comfortable place on the country plain. And that might help explain why his unqiue style led him to receive "Career Country Songwriter" honors at The L.A. Music Awards, "Song of the Year" at Hollywood Music in Media Awards, entry into the Starliner's Europe Hall of Fame and coming up on four years in the spotlight at the largest Internet Country music station in the world, Renegade Radio Nashville. While "Emma-Jean" and "Green Eyes" might be good representations of his more "modern country" bent, to him, he is most at ease dealing with the "ebb and flow" of relationships, evidenced in "When I Walked with You," "Our Good Ole' Days," and "Your Smile Says if All," this one a female country vocal version of his wedding song to his wife first heard as a male vocal song on his first album. There are two pure country co-writes here, the first with Michael Stanton of L.A. and the second with Tim Horrigan of Orange Country. "You're the Reason," a 2017 nominee at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, is an pure and simple anniversary song, with Ecker providing the melody and Stanton the words, including the soaring "You're the reason I wake up in the mornin." Somewhat like the lament in "Our Good Ole' Days," Ecker and Horrigan attempt to explore, in "Heartless," the feelings the female singer evokes knowing her lover will never return to her by choice. Ecker and Stanton break out of the strict country mold on this L.P. with their "Duty Country Honor," an unabashed country-rock tribute to all those around the world who love freedom, and the men and women who risk life and limb to defend it. The final track on the L.P. represents what Ecker considers his favorite composed melody to this day, "I Believe in You," originally off the "Charles Ecker: Speechless" playlist. "Down the Back 40: Settin' Sun" is the second of two FULL albums of Ecker's music, following a "Best Country Album" winner at The Akademia Society for "Down the Back 40: Risin' Sun." They are now part of a four album set that includes "Down the Back 40: Plantin' Seeds," all acoustic treatments of his music, and "Charles Ecker: Speechless," an instrumental L.P. that was completed soon after Ecker faced some serious media challenges that nearly cost him his ability to speak, (hence the title referring to the melodies without words contained in the set.) Charlie is not sitting still, working on projects in Pop, Christian and Swing to increase his depth and range. In fact, a Christian E.P. is in the works for Spring, 2018. "No time to waste!"
