Richard Grainger is a prolific songwriter , guitarist, captivating singer and hugely entertaining performer. He has produced 14 albums since his first release on Fellside in 1984. Some of his songs are considered classics , having already found their way into the repertoire of many folk musicians.His inspiration comes from his native Yorkshire Coast,industrial Teesside and Whitby his home. This album was recorded in 2003 and first released in that year, a time when he sang frequently with The Endeavour Shantymen, and composed many maritime songs. Alongside his career as a touring performer and songwriter, he has also written plays for stage & radio and has made TV&Radio appearances. His work with Sir David Attenborough in the production of the CD 'Eye Of The Wind' received much critical acclaim. Grainger who comes from a musical family discovered folk music as a teenager and attended his first folk clubs in the 70's in Teesside. Born and raised in Middlesbrough an industrial giant on the North East Coast of England. He was in turn discovered by The Teesside Fettlers with whom he played for three years before embarking on a solo career in the late 80's. Among the groups founders were Ron Angel and Graeme Miles .Vin Garbutt was also a member for a while. Since embarking on his solo career Richard has never looked back and has toured the world with his music, performing in all kinds of venues.
