简介
LINDA WOODSON “God’s plan in operation” is how vocalist Linda Woodson describes the completion of her debut release “Meet Me Half Way”, a collection of jazz standards and one original song co-written with her producer and Music Director, Michael Campbell. Doing a project of this magnitude was always a dream of Woodson’s, but had been kept on the back burner. Her chance meeting with Campbell lead to a conversation that eventually brought her into the studio. “This cd was meant to be an introduction to me as well as a tribute to songs and people that I’ve loved for years”. Versatile and regal, the mature tone of this jazz singer reminds you of the artistry and mood of another time. Linda’s unique phrasing of familiar standards and uncommon oldies are refreshing. She blends her sassy vibrato to lyrics creating a unique sound. Her influences range from Joni Mitchell and Carole King to Roberta Flack to Sarah Vaughan and Mel Torme. She is a longtime poet and is looking forward to putting some of her compositions to music in future projects. Woodson grew up wanting to be a lounge singer, but her parents encouraged her to pursue a more traditional and stable career. But her love for music always kept her in the church choir or taking music classes in school. Occasionally she would hit a local bar to sit in on a jam session. She holds a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as a medical degree from the University of Southern California. Woodson is a Los Angeles native and currently lives in Las Vegas. Prior to this recent project, she was involved in community theater, appearing in various shows including “The Music Man”, “Children of Eden” and “Once On This Island”.
