简介
Composer Chris Rael traveled all over India in the late '80s recording work songs, religious ceremonies, and city life. He then incorporated these recordings into his progressive compositions. The first album by Church of Betty, West of the East made a splash in the New York City experimental music scene in 1989. Featuring interpretations of South Asian folk songs, strange and funny dissonant songs, sound collages, and contributions from the original Mommyheads and Elliott Sharp, this album documents a special creative time in New York music and blazes the trail for a new approach to world music. Musicians: Chris Rael, Elliott Sharp, Adam Cohen, Jan Kotik, Kevin Miller. Produced by Chris Rael. Recorded by Chris Biondo, Perkin Barnes, Gerald McCollam & Gary Horowitz. Cover by Zode, Lou DeMonte & Pablo Tauler.
