Alan G. returns with EVERLASTING - his 9th album - and his first album of songs by another artist and writers! A tribute to Andy Gibb, this new album features many of the songs that made Andy so popular and beloved a singer and performer. “It wasn't an easy decision to sing someone else’s songs,” says Alan. “For my first eight albums, I only sang the songs I wrote - the ideas I wanted to speak about - and the words that I wanted to use… But I think that in order to grow as an artist, you must engage the artistry of others. It seems the most wonderfully human - and wonderfully musical thing to do.” So why choose these songs? And this artist? “Call it what you want - pop or disco or bubblegum,” challenges Alan. “But a good song is a good song - and there are multiple ways to define what is ‘good’… Andy and his brothers, the Bee Gees, wrote songs that not only were really wonderful music - but which fit Andy perfectly as well. As a singer, I am always hoping that the songs I record are a truthful reflection of me - and that they fit me as a vocalist. It’s obvious that they were able to do that for Andy - and create some music that is still singable and enjoyable today.” “I would have loved to have had the chance to sing with Andy,” says Alan. “As an artist, I’m constantly looking for other artists who I may have some chemistry with. Andy just had that special presence. He was a gentle soul - with a fierce artistry in his own style. That’s the kind of artist I want to collaborate with… And though the chance to sing together has passed, I’m so proud that I have been able to engage Andy’s music and legacy by recording this album.” With George Reich and Tony Rodini returning as co-producers, the updated tracks have some of the signature stylings that we have come to expect from Alan after his most recent releases: “Exile” and “Exile Extended”. “But that’s the magic of these songs of Andy‘s,” continues Alan. “They still make beautiful musical sense today. These songs have a versatility that has moved beyond their original release date.” “And I know there will be those folks out there who will really enjoy hearing Andy’s songs again - who will fondly remember this amazing artist. And there will also be those who will be introduced to Andy for the first time through my recordings. It makes me so very proud to be able to share my appreciation and love for the musical legacy of Andy Gibb in this way. I hope you enjoy it!” “Everlasting” will be available on February 11.
