Passage to Honor House
简介
Recipient of an International New Music Composers Prize, "Passage to Honor House" (1986) is a monumental work of symphonic proportions. Fourteen diverse and irregular sections make up halves of nearly equal length. The electronically created sounds -- some novel and some resembling acoustic instruments -- form a layered, intricate fabric of textures and colors that create intense emotions. Conflict and sorrow are present, especially during the moody central sections, but ultimately a jubilant, triumphant spirit prevails. In concert presentation, 320 pieces of artwork by the composer are projected synchronously with the music. Bright colors, bold patterns, and shifting light and dark backgrounds form abstract images that reflect the moods and spiritual conflict of the music. The cover artwork for this album is one of these images and is titled "First Day of Spring" ©1985. Kenneth A. Jacobs (D.M.A. University of Texas at Austin) is a composer and artist. He has been awarded The American Prize, International New Music Composers Prize, and awards from City College of New York, Brown University, Texas Music Educators Association, and the Tennessee Music Teachers Association.
